They're Back!!

I am so excited! I haven't seen the deer in the field behind our house all summer and I happened to glance up today and there they were. Brought along 2 new deer from this year! I love it, I could sit and watch them all day. The young deer seemed especially skittish and stayed near the edge of the woods in the shadows until they all ran across to the other side and disappeared into those woods. It's a good day!
I have been busy all day preparing for leading my stamp club tomorrow. We will be doing 2 techniques, one using colored pencils and a watercolor technique using aqua painters. Hope they have fun and like the techniques.
Last Friday was my birthday and I got some beautiful flowers from my son and daugher-in-law.

Aren't they beautiful? Thanks Jared and Anita!
Don't birthdays seem to just come faster and faster????? mine do and this one was definitely unique!
Better run and finish getting ready for tomorrow. Hope you see something that makes your day like those deer made mine!

Dear Santa!

I know, I know, it's only August but Hero is showing sneak peeks of their new winter and cling stamps. The challenge on their blog this week is to create a card inspired by some of the sneak peeks they have shown. Looks like it's going to be a good holiday season :).
I like the combination of the pink, red and bright greens they used. It has such a fresh bright look to it. My Christmas cards in the past have usually stayed with the traditional red, green and white so it's time to update and step out of my comfort zone.
I stamped the background stamp in white and embossed with white powder and was delighted to find that you can color over embossing with copic markers. The Santa note is one of the new cling stamps that I stamped once in green and once in red and then cut the red out and layered over the green. And what is more important than getting your letter into Santa early so that you beat the rush and are at the front of his list? Started to list all I wanted individually but neither the "write your own" stamp or the card were long enough LOL!
Hope this hint of the holidays makes you feel a little cooler where you are. Went outside to photograph the card and I have to tell you that I was "glistening". We say that here in the south....sounds a little better than "sweating like a pig"...don't you agree?
Thanks for coming by, stay out of the heat. Going to be 97 here tomorrow.

With Sympathy

image copyright @ Stampin' Up!

Just sharing a simple Sympathy card that I made today. The color combination is Sahara Sand
and Sage Shadow with white. I think that combination has a calming and peaceful feel to it.
I can't think of any time a home made card is more appreciated than when you are experiencing a loss. I appreciated all the cards I received when my mom died, but the homemade cards really touched me and even though it has been 5 years now I still remember how special they were.
Supplies used:
Sahara Sand classic ink pad
Sage Shadow classic ink pad
Thoughts and Prayers stamp set
Simple Friendship stamp set
white card stock
sage shadow card stock

Simple Friendship

image copyright @ Stampin' Up!

New In colors from Stampin' Up! Melon Mambo and Rich Razzleberry. Don't they look great together? The die is the Bigz Lattice die used with the Big shot. What a great die! It would make a great window card wouldn't it? The stamps are all from the Stimple Friendship stamp set. The butterfly was inked with melon mambo and then edged with the razzleberry, I really like that it has script and flourishes on it.
You can find the details of how I made the card on my dbws site
If you would like to purchase any of the supplies they can also be found at that site in the online store.
