Trick or Treat 2010

Our first Trick or Treaters of the night and they arrived in style!

We had a cute little moose, two fairies and an adorable Little Red Riding Hood :)

There was an awesome turn out, probably over 200 in all. We sat out on the porch and handed out candy, I told them they could have candy if I could take photos. We had the candy in a big bowl and at first Larry was letting the kids reach in and get what they wanted, but after he told one tiny little girl to take what she wanted and she tried to take the whole bowl, we started handing it out. It wasn't her fault, he told her to take what she wanted and she took him up on it.
As one group approached us, I said "Are you bringing us candy?" and one sweet little boy started taking candy out of his bucket to give me. We had to convince him to put it back and take some from us. Then a brother and sister came up and I was asking her if she was supposed to be Dorothy from the Wizzard of Oz, and he said "No, I'm Spider Man". I guess he thought I must not be very smart.

And they kept coming and coming. I loved it!

Tanya and Chris brought Wyatt and Owen up. Wyatt loved the candy but was not very happy about the witches!

I have wonderful memories of Halloweens from my childhood, we had so much fun and I hope all these kids made some wonderful memories tonight.
Hope you night was full of Treats and no Tricks! Thanks for stopping by!! If I could give you some candy I would!!!!!

Birthday Bouquet

This  lovely stamp is from the Flourishes "Gerbera Daisies" clear set. Who wouldn't enjoy receiving a beautiful bouqet of flowers on their birthday? The tiny sentiment if from PTI. This is one of my favorite sentiment sets because they are so tiny and work well on many different types of cards. This set is also available in a larger size.

Hope your day is going well! Thanks for stopping by :)

PDCC # 51

Love the colors this week for the Play Date Cafe Challenge and you can read more about the challenge HERE.
And this is my interpretation of those colors.

To tell the truth, I don't think I have ever seen a hydrangea this color, until now. LOL!

I have been experiencing a terrible period of stamping block. My creativity just flew the coop. Maybe it had something to do with how busy things have been, or stress, or whatever but it was a relief to finally come up with an idea.

Tanya, Scattered Stamper, came over today and we shared new supplies and stamped and stamped. It was fun and hopefully has brought an end to my creative drought. So excited for her because it won't  be long before that sweet baby girl is here. Can hardly wait to meet her.

Wishing you a very creative week and thanks for stopping by.

A new stamp!

I know you can't imagine me having a new stamp, LOL!! But I do! Went to a Breastfeeding Conference in Chapel Hill so it involved a side trip to Archivers. They had a beautiful card on their counter using the Northwoods Winter Scene. It was very pretty and the stamp sitting beside it on the counter told me it wanted to come home with me and I listened and gave it a new home.

The background of stars is a Hero stamp that was inked in white and embossed with clear powder. If I had it to do over again I would have used white embossing powder. The winter scene image was stamped and embossed with a brown ink and clear powder. The trees were colored with white pencil and blended with gamsol, then the trees were covered with glossy accents. A little bit of white fun flock was added to create a snowy look on some of the branches.

I have another confession...........I got the Martha Stewart scoring board and I really like it. I already had another scoring board but this one is great because it has measurements across the top and side and the scoring channels are evenly spaced and close together. So if you want to do a series of straight lines you don't have to keep moving your paper. That sounds kind of lazy doesn't it?

And.......I also got some irredescent gold Glimmer Mist and I took another picture of the card in sunlight so you could see how shimmery it is.

So now I get to come see all of you and see what you have been doing this week. We are headed out for some Friday night football and then 12 hours at work tomorrow, so if I don't see you this evening, I will see you on Sunday, for sure.
Take care and thanks for stopping by :)

Pairing up Challenge Week 4

Sue and I chose masking as our technique for this week. We got the inspiration for this challenge from Kelly's card Here on the Hero Blog. You will be able to see Sue's creation Here. I have enjoyed this pairing up challenge with Sue, it has been fun :).

I stamped the flower 4 times on post it notes and cut them out. On the card I stamped the first flower in the bottom corner of the card, then placed one of the flower post it notes over the image. Stamped the next flower on the card and then placed another flower post it note over that image and continued with the rest of the flowers. After the four flowers were stamped I left all 4 post it note flowers in place and stamped and embossed the large canvas stripe.
The flowers were colored with pencils and copic markers. A little shimmer was added with glimmer mist and just a touch more sparkle with a glitter pen. The centers of the flowers were created with glossy accents and flower soft.

All stamps by Hero Arts.

Thanks for visiting. I am leaving today for a conference. Hope you all have a wonderful week and I will see you when I get back.

Happy Saturday Morning!

I was awakened by the phone this morning at 5:30 and I couldn't go back to sleep so off to the craft room for some creative time. I like early morning crafting, seems like my head is not as cluttered with thoughts from the day......

This old hydrangea stamp from Hero was sitting on the table so I decided to play with it.
I inked the stamp first with versamark and then dye inks, stamped and embossed with clear embossing powder. And then the coloring was on. I used colored pencils and copics. Did a little blending of the colored pencils with an odorless solvent and a little blending of the copics with their colorless blender. Kept just messing around with it until I was satisfied with the colors. I think I messed too much with the flower but since I added glossy accents to finish it off there is no changing it now.  Didn't want a thick coat of the accents so I painted it on with a paint brush.

Before applying the glossy accents I masked off the flower and stamped the grid around the edge with tea dye distress ink. Then removed the mask and stamped the script with a opaque white dye ink and added white around the edges to distress it some. After applying the kraft layer to a piece of green card stock I added the ribbon and adhered the layers to the card base.

I need to get outside today it is going to be lovely. The sky is beautiful and blue with a few wispy white clouds and the temp will be in the 70s. Just a hint of color in the leaves. Such a change from Monday till Thursday. We had over 22 inches of rain, water everywhere! Had to spend the night at the hospital Wed. night to make sure I could be at work on Thursday. Went over to see my dad yesterday, he lives about 35 miles from me and this is what one of the roads looked like

I drive a small car so I didn't attempt it! alternate route for me.

Hope you are high and dry and enjoying some beautiful weather! Thanks for stopping by!!!!
