Colorful Wishes

Good Morning!

I have been taking the Online Card Classes the past two weeks. The subject is Kick Starting your creativity and it has been filled with awesome ideas. I have started a couple of projects inspired by the classes. I now have a journal for creative ideas and I am also using Pinterest to catalog card ideas, craft tutorials, and color schemes so that the next creative slump comes along I will have a place to go for ideas. that will be in addition to all the wonderful ideas out here in Blogland.

When I posted my card on Monday, I said the original idea was to alternate bold colors with the white so this is the card with that idea. The die cut layers, the tag and the butterfly were all made earlier in the week. So this morning it was easy to finish it up. I also decided not to make the card base the same size as the largest die and I also wanted to card to stand up for display. So I cut a card base and folded it. I cut the front of the card so that it was the same dimension of the inner part of the die but cut the back a little longer in the back. I hope you can see in the picture below the difference in the sides.

Can you see that the top fold comes below the cut out area of the die? A change I would probably make next time is to go ahead and color the back of the die also (just because there are some smudges from coloring the front).

The ink color on this card is the new Raspberry Jam mid-tone ink from Hero Arts and I love it! It looks really pretty covered with glossy accents as shown on the birthday tag.

Thanks so much for visiting! Hope you will come back soon :)

Texture and a Touch of Color

Quick post this morning to share this little birthday card. I had a delightful weekend. Inspired by Online Card Classes I started a creative journal, started organizing my inks, and took a look at supplies on hand to think of other ways to use them.

This card was created with Spellbinders and Simon Says Stamp dies, an embossing folder by Stampin Up and stamps by Hero Arts. I started this card thinking I would do the different layers with pops of bright colors against the white but decided to use texture to set the layers apart, rather than color.
You know me..there is never too much white Lol!

Off to celebrate a friend's birthday. Hope your day is wonderful, thanks for visiting!

Marvelous Squares

supplies:
Spellbinders
Marvelous Squares
Fancy Lattice
Penny Black Wishes
My Minds Eye Miss Caroline 6x6 paper pad

Last Tuesday at stamp club we made a trifold card with a Halloween theme. It had a circle for the element that covered the center fold. I used the new Marvelous Squares dies as an alternative to the circle. I cut the white layer again with the pp and used the negative space design to add the floral touch to the white layer ( this kept all the negative space from being the green from the first layer.)

I stamped the two designs from Penny Black and punched the circle out and applied with foam dots for dimension. The Fancy Lattice die was the perfect length to cover the card. I cut it out and then trimmed some from each side to get the width I wanted, adhered it to one of the folded sides, cut it at the center fold and then adhered the rest of it to the other side.

Here is a picture showing the card partially opened. On the inside center panel I added a layer of white card stock.

Have a Marvelous Day! Thanks for visiting :)

Just got my new Spellbinders dies! This was a really great release and I couldn't wait to get them and start playing. Just a little play time this morning and then off to Myrtle Beach with my hubby. We like to wait till the official end of tourist season before we go. The weather is gorgeous and it won't be nearly as crowded as it was before Labor Day.

Have a great weekend! Thanks for stopping by.

Happy Everything

supplies:
Stamps by Hero Arts
LL165 Happy Everything Greetings
Antique Flowers and Butterflies
Prismacolor Pencils

Happy Monday! I worked all weekend so I am starting the week off in my craft room and that makes me happy. I wasn't happy that I was working all weekend because I didn't get to participate in the Penny Black challenge...maybe next time I will get to play along.

I apologize that I don't know the name of the embossing folder. It belongs to Tanya and she let me use it when we had craft day, weekend before last.

Finally getting a taste of fall weather..another happy thing. Lots to be happy about and thankful for and I am thankful for your visit :).

Lace and Pearls

I was inspired to make this card by this wonderful card designed by Greta on her blog GG Creations. Isn't her card just drop dead gorgeous? I loved it. So I pulled out this doily stamp from Stampin Up, colored it with brush markers and loaded it up with pearls. The center didn't turn out quite right on the first stamping so I stamped it again and cut it out with a Spellbinders circle nestability and layered it over the first image. Not sure I've ever seen a doily in such bright colors before.

Have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by!
